Advanced Manufacturing System (AMS) Overview

AMS (Advanced Manufacturing System) manufacturing software has everything needed to control and track production, from quote to shipping. Running your business requires you manage both production and job related administration.

AMS manufacturing software makes it easy for the tasks of planning production, reserving and ordering stock. You will have a list of all your costs for the recipe or a parts list of the product you are making from the Bill of Materials created using the Bill of Materials Software (Bom Software).

This can be multi level to include sub assemblies. By planning production for the next few months, material requirements can be planned, reserved or ordered. One of the most critical and time-consuming aspects of manufacturing is maintaining the right amounts of raw materials and components.

  • When production is commenced the materials or components are issued out of stock and into Work in Process.
  • The costs can include labour, outwork, non-stock resources, overhead as well as component costs.
  • When production is completed you will know if you have completed the processing efficiently or had a cost overrun.

Manufacturers from a wide range of industries use AMS, including manufacturers of machinery, electrical components and processors of chemicals and food. The easy to use manufacturing control system can be extended to address particular needs of a business.

One manager from a stainless steel component manufacturer - an AMS user - is full of praise. As he says, “...We can now record quotes for production work with detailed costing of all production stages. This means that data entered for quotes doesn't have to be re-entered for production instructions, which saves a great deal of work”.

The quoting system can handle ‘one off’ orders to include production details and costs or use standard bills of materials as the basis for the quote. The history of quotes entered, the value to different work centres and rates of conversion to orders can be reported on in detail. When quotes are accepted for production, all the information is already in the production system, ready to go into the Bom Software. This is just one example of how AMS helped a manufacturer.

AMS manufacturing software is robust, too, thanks to its design and use of MS SQL as its database. From simple bill of materials planning and organisation to complex MRP requirements, AMS can grow with your business to introduce efficiencies and improve productivity.

AMS is made up of a number of modules. Each AMS module is designed to provide specific manufacturing functionality and to seamlessly integrate with the other modules. Modules can be purchased separately in accordance with individual business requirements.

The AMS modules are based around the core functionality of bills of materials/manufacturing for items that are manufactured by a business. Modules available include:

  • Standard bill of materials/manufacturing (bom software, bill of materials software)
  • Extended production management
  • Demand analysis
  • Supply analysis (material requirement planning)
  • Bulk issues
  • Job Entry
  • Production quotation
