CASE STUDY: First big MYOB conversion to Advanced Business Manager in Australia

Priestley's Gourmet Delights provides pastries to Restaurants, Cafes and Coffee Shops in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, with plans afoot to expand into South Australia and Western Australia. Their growth has been quite spectacular from very humble premises in Rosalie to current 6,000 sq mtr premises in Tingalpa.

Among their hundreds of clients are McDonalds McCafe, Aromas and most of the coffee shop chains across Australia. Priestley's operate 24x7- taking orders till 3.00am for delivery at 11:00am that morning. Stock is kept in 3 locations (Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne) and stock is shipped from Brisbane to the other 2 locations every day, as well as direct to their Queensland clients. Currently, Priestleys employ 140 staff and process 400-1000 invoices per day and thier MYOB database was 1 gigabyte. They have 15 users on their network.

Mark Young was approached to help Priestely's maintain their growth path and overcome computer limitations.

The Problem

Priestleys were using MYOB the main limitations of which were speed and lack of multi-location handling in inventory. According to Mark, "Priestley's were satisfied with MYOB despite lots of little annoyances. However they were told by MYOB that they could no longer support a site of Priestley's size. What we needed was the ease of use Prietley's were happy with in a package that would let them continue to grow at the exponential rate that has been the norm over recent years."

The Solution

Advanced Business Manager overcomes all these limitations. The major benefits Priestley's foresee with Advanced Business Manager include:

  • Superior database (SQL vs Proprietary Database) - no more "data storms" on the network
  • More efficient stock transfers - being truly multi location will save one of their staff 2 hours per day!
  • More flexible GL reporting - using Branch & Activities
  • More efficient handling of BOMs using AMS (Advanced Manufacturing System)
  • More accurate inventory control from using AMS

Advanced Business Manager meets all Priestley's objectives as well as providing additional benefits which will prove beneficial over time.

In summary

There is a huge market out there for Advanced Business Manager, many of them are coming from higher end systems wanting extra functionality and stability, and exactly is the same for the smaller MYOB / Quicken sites - at some stage their needs will grow.
